Helicopter blows bollards into marathon runner’s path

A helicopter filming a marathon in south-west China wreaked havoc after it flew too low, sending race barriers flying onto the course. At least one runner was injured at the Chongqing International Marathon on Sunday after the low-flying chopper disrupted the event, according to Chinese reports.

Footage of the bizarre incident shows the helicopter hovering just above the participants, causing the guard barriers to land right in the path of the approaching runners. The frustrated runners were seen pushing past at least six large pieces of cardboard and continuing the run.

However, one male participant was left limping in pain after the disruption and appeared to have sustained an injury in his left foot. The wounded runner has complained to the organising committee after race, according to Beijing Youth Daily.

The helicopter was sent to broadcast the event, the report said, adding that the incident is currently under investigation.
