A bloke managed to save a baby deer from drowning after jumping into a freezing cold canal in his undies to help it back onto dry land.
Marc Headon – a painter and decorator from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire – had a job ‘rained off’ due to adverse weather.
He was driving in Saxilby with his colleague, Jamie Toyne, when he spotted something unusual in the canal and decided to stop the car.
“I was driving to pick up my daughter when something caught mine and Jamie’s eye in the canal,” Marc said. “I thought it was a fish as we do a lot of fishing, when we realised it was a deer.” Marc then stripped off into his boxers and leapt into the cold water.
Jamie filmed the rescue in action and uploaded it to Facebook on Sunday evening (26 May) – and it quickly went viral. Jamie had to stop filming as he helped Marc pull the deer out of the water and onto the bank, but uploaded another clip showing his friend trying to keep the animal warm.
