This is the shocking moment a thug repeatedly uses his car as a weapon by trying to run down revellers outside a nightclub. Liam Loughran tried to reverse into bouncers and customers at the Lancer Public House in Leighton Buzzard and also smashed into street furniture and a parked car.
Video footage showed Loughran drive up the road and then reverse towards the revellers 10 times, although some appeared to be attempts at intimidation because the vehicle ended up nowhere near the public. He was jailed at Luton Crown Court for 21 months for dangerous driving and two counts of affray.
It came after Loughran and friend Jack Blackburn, 25, were involved in a fight on the bar’s dancefloor and the pair left the pub, only to return in the car. At one point Blackburn threw punches at a member of the public who tried to confront the pair by approaching the front passenger door of the vehicle.
No one was seriously injured in the attack but several bystanders had to dive out of the path of the car. Loughran will serve an additional five months for breaching a suspended sentence and two months for breaching a conditional discharge. Blackburn was handed a 10 month suspended sentence for affray and was fined £1,250.
