In May 2016, Mets’ pitcher Noah Syndergaard was ejected at the top of the third inning for throwing a 1-0 pitch behind Dodgers’ second baseman Chase Utley. Manager Terry Collins was not happy with this development. (WARNING: Sooooo much NSFW language)
This is why the Internet is the best invention: A video from 2016 is suddenly extremely relevant and fascinating.
Two years ago, New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard threw behind Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley, which folks speculated was payback for the now-infamous takeout slide in the 2015 NLDS that injured Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada.
Syndergaard was ejected and then-manager Terry Collins was livid.
New audio from that moment has emerged and it is something. You can hear how umpire Tom Hallion explains the reason behind the quick ejection and then deals with a very foul-mouthed Collins.
