Learn Why Bugspray is Important in a Disgusting Demonstration

Mosquitoes are quite the nuisance. If you ever needed a reminder why bug spray is so important, but didn’t want to walk outside at night to test it on yourself, this guy does it for you.

The most common active ingredient in bug repellent is Diethyl-meta-toluamide or DEET. This guy does a little experiment with putting DEET on an area of one hand, while his other hand was left untreated.

He then sticks either hand into a mosquito net where you see the results. It gives me the heebie jeebies just seeing him stick his hand in there, whether it be with the treated or untreated hand.

The gel he uses is made up of just 15% DEET, and it was effective for up to 4 hours.

He also goes to show you that you need to apply it to all exposed skin. When he just puts the DEET gel on an area of his skin, leaving the rest untouched, the skeeters do their damage on all of the untouched skin, but stay away from the treated area.

Needless to say, you need to apply some sort of DEET infused substance onto your body if you’re doing anything in the outdoors.
