Sure, this is what these creatures evolved to do, but the efficiency of it still has us a bit awestruck.
Video captures the moment a bear with amazing hunting skills catches its underwater prey.
The underwater camera, set up in 2012, shows the bear, named Hollie, at the Katmai National Park & Preserve diving through the water to retrieve the fish before swimming away to tuck into.
Courtney Johnson filmed the video, in conjunction with explore.org, with the cameras being set up seasonally, between June to October.
She said: “Each year thousands of people watch these videos from countries all around the world. Holly is one of our viewers’ favorite bears as she adopted a cub, now known as 503, when it was separated from its mother.”
“As far as tagging, none of the bears in the Brooks River area are tagged. We learn to identify bears based on facial features, behaviors, scars, and colorization.”
