Everybody’s gotta eat but going after a seal pup feels like low hanging fruit for a ten-foot-long great white shark. We’re glad he lost this round.
Here is the moment a lucky young seal narrowly escaped becoming a great white shark’s lunch. The video, filmed by a tourist off the coast of Mossel Bay, South Africa, shows the seal stumbling upon the 10ft shark by complete chance.
According to the filmer, Elton Polly, the “seal pup was passing our boat when it was met by a huge great white shark.
Bad luck, you might think. But as the great white spots the pup and beams straight towards it, the seal reacts with lightning speed, and manages to avoid becoming the shark’s meal.
As the clip shows, it leaps out of the way with milliseconds to spare.
