Girl Struggles in a Raging River After Falling Into It While Washing Her Feet Before Being Saved by Anglers With Their Fishing Poles

A girl in south-west China was saved from drowning after three quick-thinking men pulled her out of a raging river using their fishing poles.

The 11-year-old girl had been washing her feet by the river but lost her balance and fell into the water in Songtao Miao Autonomous County, Guizhou province. Three anglers nearby immediately dived in to rescue her and luckily no one was hurt in the incident, Chinese media reported.

Dramatic footage emerged of the June 16 incident, showing the girl struggling to keep her head above water after falling in. The girl is seen being swept further away from the shore by the strong currents near the dam.

One of the men immediately jumped into the water but couldn’t reach her right away, prompting him to call for help from his friends. Carrying their fishing poles, two other men then carefully waded into the river.

Signaling to the girl to grab onto the fishing pole, the men were able to reach her feet and pull her back to shore within a minute.
