Half-tonne Endangered Leatherback Which Was Stranded on a Beach After Getting Tangled in Fishing Net Is Released Back Into the Sea by Rescuers

A half-tonne endangered turtle was helped back into the sea after it found itself tangled in a fishing net on the coast off the Philippines.

Several villagers were able to assist the struggling leatherback after she was spotted near a beach in Camarines Sur, a province located in the Bicol Region, on November 22.

During the heartwarming video locals were seen hauling the female turtle back into the depths of the sea after removing the tangled net from her shell.

Turtle Safe Into The Sea

The leatherback, which belongs to the largest sea turtle species, was then checked over by local vets, before receiving the all-clear.
