This is the heart-stopping moment a man gets his hand stuck inside a train’s doors as it begins to move down the platform. A man was filmed running toward the closing doors of the 9pm Seven Hills, Sydney, train on Monday on the station’s CCTV.
He can be seen placing his hand in between the doors as they close, but despite sensors, the doors do not re-open as the train moves down the platform taking the man with him. As the train speeds up, the man has no choice but to sprint along side the train. Then, with just seconds to spare before the train disappears into the tunnel, the man manages to break free, but comes dangerously close to falling onto the tracks.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance says the close-call should be a warning to all commuters who attempt the risk of catching a departing train. In between April 2017 and October 2018, 110 people were injured and 41 had their legs or arms trapped in closing doors on Sydney trains.
Stewart Wilson from Sydney Trains says to never take the risk as although all trains are fitted with motion sensors, once they reach a certain point, they will not reopen.
