A Florida father was almost gunned down by his own son, after they argued about money, police say. The incident took place Friday and law enforcement believes QuanTez Rodney Baker, 20, was the person inside the gray Mercedes Benz GL 350 luxury sports car that quickly drove by the home on Southeast 25th Avenue and Southeast Fifth Street.
A video posted by Broward County Sheriff’s Office shows how Baker’s father dashed away from the front lawn area at around 5.45pm that day as multiple shots were fired. Detectives said the shooter shot at the parent six to ten times with a rifle and clarified it came from the side of the driver’s seat position. Baker’s parent and woman he was standing with outside the property in the Pompano Beach neighborhood, escaped uninjured but bullets fired from the SUV pierced the walls of the house.
Law enforcement added in a call for tips that Baker is a convicted felon who is currently on probation for charges relating to ‘grand theft of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest’. His probation was scheduled to end November 23, 2021.
On suspicion of trying to kill his father, Baker is currently wanted for attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting a missile into a dwelling. As they shared surveillance footage, police offered up to $3,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
